DAY THREE: THURSDAY, JULY 10, 2008

Off-Site Tours

TOUR 1: New York Container Terminal and GREEN Locomotives
Take a bus tour of the New York Container Terminal and witness first-hand their newly constructed, premier on-dock rail operation. On display nearby will be state-of-the-art advanced locomotive technologies from CSX Transportation and Norfolk Southern’s fleet, including such a National Rail Equipment Corporation (NREC), multi-gen-set locomotive, a Railpower genset locomotive and others.

TOUR 2: A GOODS MOVEMENT SHOWCASE
Take a bus tour to New Jersey to view some of the East Coast’s most advanced goods movement
facilities, including a marine container terminal, an auto marine terminal, and an on-terminal warehouse
facility.

  • Container Terminal: APM Terminal, Elizabeth PA Marine Terminal, will showcase, among other things: on-dock rail operations; "green" cargo handling equipment; and electrified gantry cranes.
  • Auto Terminal: Foreign Auto Preparation Services, (FAPS), Port Newark, will showcase, among other things: expanded on-dock-rail auto import/export operations; on-terminal auto preparation services; and roll on/roll off (RO/RO) vessel unloading operations.
  • Warehouse: East Coast Warehouse, Elizabeth PA Marine Terminal, will showcase the largest "green" power generating roof in North America and temperature controlled operations
